Parks Conservation Corps Improves The Environment And Lives
Vermont is putting some of their economic stimulus money to great use by starting up the Parks Conservation Corps. This is a joint effort between the Departments of Labor, and Forests, Parks and Recreation. The program takes 24 previously unemployed Vermonters and gives them summer work, and also teaches them valuable skills that they can use for future careers. This will also happen next summer. This is pretty cool because not only will the people in the program have a means to better their quality of life, but our Parks will benefit as well.
This is just the beginning of the new spending on local parks, as many need additional upkeep or work done to make them really shine. The state is hoping to boost attendance at state parks, and also help out small businesses in the area who will be performing these services. All you have to do is get out there and enjoy it.
